Brendan Lan is a lanky Asian teenager weighing in at an underwhelming 130 lbs & standing at a so-so height of 5’ 9”. His slight, insect-like frame is a direct reflection of his most intense passion: entomology. Brendan has been captivated by arthropods ever since his kindergarten teachers let him play with beetle grubs in the dirt. That quirky little phase has somehow developed into a massive collection of invertebrates (both living and dead), countless hours of volunteer work within entomology, and the founding of the Bug Club at his high school. Although all of this might make it seem like Brendan would be a socially inept nerd (he is), he actually appears to enjoy being social, even going so far as to sometimes lead his fellow peers at his school. He’s been in Leadership for 4 consecutive years, and this year he is the Senior Class President. With college applications, new senior-year activities, and online classes looming over his mind, Brendan’s a little overwhelmed right now, but he’ll do his best and hopefully everything will turn out fine.

With virtual learning and social distancing, she doesn’t get to do all the normal traditions she would in her senior year, but Zoe promised to herself that she would make the best out of the worst outcome. Zoe currently works at Ripon’s new ice parlor, the Ice Cream Emporium as a server. Zoe is a member of the Love Ripon Board and a part of the tech team and youth at her church, One Church, as a student leader. Her plans for college are still unknown, but she knows that she wants to learn education and psychology, so she can become a teacher or a counselor. On the side, Zoe wants to study ministry, go on mission trips, and to be a youth pastor. Her main goal in life is to be unique and to not follow the crowd. To show that no matter what you look like or what your past looks like, you can do anything if you are dedicated and fight for it.

This is Gabriella’s second year in leadership, and she is also involved in Link Crew, Pride Tribe, and Block R. She plays golf in the fall, soccer in the winter, and works with Lydia Waters as a Link Crew/Renaissance Coordinator in the leadership program at RHS. Her job description includes keeping all Renaissance and Block R items organized and handed out to students throughout the year (as well as creating their sign ups), making sure Link Crew is involved in events such as hot chocolate socials, study buddy nights, and 8th grade day, finding sponsors for Renaissance, and finally planning Freshmen Orientation with the AD and helping assist her with Link Crew groups. This is Gabriella’s first year with this job so she has a lot to learn about how Lydia runs these two programs and what is necessary to plan their events. In Gabriella's freetime she is usually at the golf course, either practicing her own game or helping her coach out with teaching young beginners the basic fundamentals of golf. She hopes to play golf in college after high school competitively at a school either down in SoCal or back east. With this year being completely different, Gabriella hopes that they will be back in school by the new year and school events will be back to normal. She is trying to stay positive and be supportive of whoever needs it during this time.
